Marconi Club

Leechburg, PA

135 River Ave. Leechburg, PA

(724) 845-2680

The

The club was named after Marchese Guglielmo Marconi, the Nobel Prize winner and inventor of the Marconi wireless telegraph. The club wrote to Marconi asking his permission to name their lodge after him. Marconi replied, giving them his blessing.

At the turn of the century, when the region was flush with immigrants imported to work the coal mines and the mills, the Marconi Club served as a haven for immigrants to speak in their native tongue, have a drink, and feel the touch of the old country.

Now, second and third generation Italian-Americans use the Marconi Club more for socializing than as a haven.  Parades, holidays, any big event is always matched by a Marconi celebration.
